Hello! My name is Lorenzo Guerra, and I have been involved in Scouting for nearly 20 years.

I grew up in Del Rio, Texas, where my Scouting journey began as a Wolf Cub Scout and continued through earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Along the way, Scouting taught me how to work with others, serve my community, and lead with confidence. It is where I built lifelong friendships, challenged myself to be brave, and gained skills that continue to shape my life today.

Because of that experience, I am passionate about ensuring today’s youth have the same opportunities I did.

Serving Youth from San Angelo and Beyond

I am raising support for the Texas Southwest Council, which is based in San Angelo and serves youth across 23 counties in the rural region of Southwest Texas. Amistad District is who this fund is set up to support. Our district is named after Amistad Lake and supports families across Val Verde, Maverick, Dimmit, Zavala, Uvalde, Real, Kinney, and Edwards Counties.

Many of these communities face limited access to youth programs due to distance and resources. Scouting helps bridge that gap by bringing leadership development, outdoor education, and service opportunities directly to local youth.

Our Impact So Far

Despite the challenges of serving a wide and rural area, our impact continues to grow:

  • Over 400 youth served in the last year
  • Expanded reach from three counties to seven
  • Increased access to Scouting programs for families who otherwise might not be able to participate

Each Scout represents a young person gaining confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging.

Our Goal: $10,000

Our goal is to raise $10,000 through San Angelo Gives to continue expanding Scouting opportunities across the Amistad District.

Your gift supports:

  • Outdoor and camping experiences
  • Program supplies and materials
  • Financial assistance so cost is never a barrier
  • Training and support for volunteer leaders

Every dollar stays local and directly benefits youth and families connected to our district.
