Annual Operating - Friends of Scouting

Friends of Scouting (FOS) is an annual fundraising campaign run by local councils, typically starting in November and ending in May. During the campaign, volunteers explain the program and request tax-deductible contributions from families and supporters. These donations are crucial because membership fees alone cover only a fraction of the costs required to maintain high-quality Scouting programs, camps, and volunteer training.

In the Texas Southwest Council, FOS typically supports our programs (cub camps, camporees, winter camp), membership recruiting resources, technology resources, support services, and camp & facility maintenance for all three camps: Camp Sol Mayer, Camp Fawcett, and Baden Powell Park.
