Amistad District

About the Amistad District

The Amistad District of Scouting exists to serve youth and families across a wide, rural region of Southwest Texas. Based in San Angelo and named after Amistad Lake, our district supports Scouting programs in Val Verde, Maverick, Dimmit, Zavala, Uvalde, Real, Kinney, and Edwards Counties.

Our mission is simple: to provide young people with opportunities to grow into confident leaders through outdoor adventure, service, and character development.

Our Impact

Despite the challenges of serving a large and rural area, our district continues to grow:

• Over 400 youth served in the past year
• Expanded from three counties to seven
• Increased access to Scouting for families who might otherwise lack youth programs

Each Scout represents a young person gaining leadership skills, confidence, and a strong sense of community.

Our Goal

Through San Angelo Gives, our goal is to raise $10,000 to support local Scouting programs. These funds help provide:

• Camping and outdoor experiences
• Program supplies and materials
• Financial assistance for families
• Training and support for volunteer leaders

Every dollar raised stays local and directly benefits youth in the Amistad District.

This work is led by local Scouting volunteers and leaders who care deeply about the youth in our communities, including Lorenzo Guerra, an Eagle Scout who grew up in Scouting and now helps ensure these opportunities continue for today's youth.
