About the Organization

In 1978, a group of citizens interested in the arts formed the Concho Valley Arts Council which became the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council in 1985. Now in our 5th decade, SACAC works closely with the core arts organizations, the City of San Angelo, the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, and the San Angelo Convention and Visitor's Bureau to promote visual and performing arts in the Concho Valley. The Council has partnered with the City of San Angelo since 1989 to provide sub grants to local arts organizations with the City's Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue. The Council also awards additional grants through funds provided by the Texas Commission on the Arts and funds raised by the Council in annual fundraising events. SACAC exists to bring a better quality of life through the arts. Mark Stevenson is the organization's current Executive Director. The council is managed by a board of 24 directors serving staggered three-year terms. The directors represent a diverse cross-section of the Concho Valley bound together by a shared love of the arts. The City of San Angelo has been designated as a Music Friendly city from the State of Texas which SACAC supports.
