The Family Shelter is dedicated to reducing the trauma of domestic violence by providing a safe haven for crime victims and their children. While the shelter is located in San Angelo, we serve the entire Concho Valley area of 15 Counties. We offer food, clothing, shelter and basic needs. Our Victim Advocates also offer counseling for adults and children, educational classes, case management services, legal advocacy, safety planning and other crisis related programs. Help us break the cycle!

The Family Shelter is an organization under the Institute of Cognitive Development, Inc. (ICD), umbrella, a non-profit. ICD also operates the Early-Redwine Childcare Center and Stone Bridge (home for the intellectually disabled adults). The Family Shelter helps adults and children regain their stability and sense of empowerment. Our efforts help break the cycle of violence, help them move forward with housing and lead an abuse-free lifestyle. As an after-care service, we offer non-residential services for a continuum of care to them and their children. Family Violence causes homelessness in our community. The Family Shelter makes an impact with these victims by helping them with the housing process, income assistance, document restoration, re-education or continuing education, promoting employment back in the work force, and childcare management. With our community partners, we are able to provide "wrap around" services to those we serve. Despite Covid-19, the Family Shelter was able to help those in need. We appreciate the community for their dedication and assistance to our program! See our sister organization, Early-Redwine Childcare Center!
