The Permian Basin/Concho Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists provides concerts, special events, and educational programs for adults and childen. All are free and open to the public. Types of programming includes the Bach Birthday Bash held each March on or near J.S. Bach's birthday in 1685. Instrumentation and repertoire for the music of J.S. Bach has included organ, harpsichord, piano, brass, flute, chamber choirs, soloists, etc; Other programs include the annual Carols by Candlelight Christmas Service led by organ and an ecumenical community choir, a Wesley Hymn Festival celebrating the hymns of Charles and John Wesley, Spring Organ and Piano Concert celebrating the rededication of a Steinway concert grand piano. Educational programs focus on youth including Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza and Pedals, Pipes, and Cookies which teaches young people about the "King of Instruments" and offer insight into the pipe organ's history, structure, and the distinction between the piano and organ. A newly acquired Orgelkids kit allows children and adults to build a real miniature pipe organ. 100% of our funds go directly to programming.
