"My daughter is 8 years old. In her short little life she’s been through so much, trauma and sadness yet she has the biggest energy, most beautiful smile and an unmeasurable positive outlook on life. She actually hasn’t had her father in her life since she was an infant. I took her to meet him at 2 and at about 5 years old she started crying for him, asking questions about stuff and wanting her daddy. Her father has had an addiction issue for a long time and it did nothing but get worse. His presence in her life was scarce. In my opinion him being locked up saved his life. And In turn gives hope to a little girl who has nothing but faith he’s going to be good when this is over. They have grown closer over the last couple years with video calls and doing their art together. It’s truly a beautiful thing to see. When she opened her gifts from her daddy and it was actually stuff that fit her so perfectly! She was so happy. I wrapped the gifts separately so after receiving the gifts yall sent for him her day was beyond filled with happiness and she was proud. I didn’t think programs like this existed. It’s a very depressing, emotional time for everyone involved when a loved one is locked up or living in active addiction. Little things like what this ministry did for our family giving my daughter even more hope and validation. Even allowing her daddy to feel a small bit of peace. We appreciate the work and time everyone put in for everything and can tell the generosity and thoughtfulness that was given."
"This meant a lot to my son because it made him feel that his dad was able to think of him during the holiday. For us as the guardians we were shocked and it took our breath away to know people care enough about the kids of incarcerated people. Most of the time these kids get forgotten. "
"I know it meant a lot to my son to have someone care enough to send gifts to his children when he couldn't. I was really moved by your thoughtfulness and generosity. The children were very excited to receive their gifts and very appreciative. Thank you so much for your gifts of hope, kindness, and love. God bless you all. "
TGCJ Ministry exists to meet the spiritual needs of all inmates, detainees, Sheriff's Dept personnel, & their families. We share hope with the hopeless, forgiveness for sin, & the transforming love of Jesus Christ. With two chaplains & over 130 volunteers, we share the Word of God, have church services, provide bible studies, & more. Demonstrating, as well as offering the tools needed for successful life change; to reduce the recidivism rate, to make stronger families, & build a safer community.
We believe & know it to be true: Jail/Prison Ministry is one of America's most urgent mission fields! Every day, The Ministry's chaplains, Dennis Trujillo & Linda Freeman, meet with inmate's one-on-one, often within their first 24 hours in jail. Along with the chaplains, our dedicated volunteers-over 130 strong-visit the jail several times a week, teaching the Bible, providing worship music and lessons, creating a "church" environment for any inmate who wants to attend. They also bring recovery programs such as CR, AA, & NA, supplementing the one-on-one ministry with the chaplains.
We serve in one of the most difficult and uncomfortable places that everyone wants to leave-yet our mission is greater than any discomfort or challenges we encounter. True transformation demands patience, consistent compassion, and ongoing dedication. Through powerful inmate testimonies and the restoration of family relationships, we've witnessed genuine life changes.
Many incarcerated individuals will soon return to our communities as neighbors, friends, or colleagues, and their families are already part of our community. Your support helps make a lasting impact-one life at a time. Help us help them.
