San Angelo READS! Literacy Initiative by San Angelo ISD

A nonprofit organization

San Angelo READS! is a community-powered literacy movement dedicated to ensuring every San Angelo ISD child has access to books and the opportunity to become a confident, capable reader.

The reality is clear: children who read on grade level by third grade are significantly more likely to succeed in school and in life. Yet for many families, access to books at home remains a challenge. San Angelo READS! exists to close that gap — one book at a time.

Through monthly book giveaways, engaging read-aloud experiences, community literacy events, and our Summer Book Patrol, we place high-quality, age-appropriate books directly into the hands of students — helping them build personal home libraries and develop a lifelong love of reading. Inside the classroom, our educators reinforce this work daily through targeted instruction, small-group support, and data-driven interventions to ensure every child grows as a reader.

Thanks to generous community partners, thousands of books have already been distributed across our district — and the impact is real. But the need is ongoing. Each new school year brings new students, new families, and new opportunities to make a difference. The need is always there.

As we continue expanding literacy efforts across all elementary grade levels and creating new opportunities for secondary students, your support becomes even more critical. Your gift does more than purchase a book — it builds confidence, strengthens skills, and opens doors to future opportunity.

When you give to San Angelo READS!, you are investing in the future of our children and the future of our community.

Every dollar places books in students’ hands. Every book helps write a brighter future.
