Through mental health support and education, NAMI Texas of San Angelo is dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals and the families of those living with mental illness, their families, and the community.
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI Texas of San Angelo is a new affiliate. Since opening in October, 2019, we have begun hosting support groups, classes, and monthly meetings for people living with mental illness and their families. Monthly meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at MHMR - 1501 W. Beauregard.
Classes and support groups are held in person locally, but there are online options available. Check out our Facebook page - NAMI San Angelo TX - for more information!
Being involved with NAMI is very important to me. I am a two-time survivor of suicide, losing my mom and brother who suffered from mental illness disorders. I am very aware of the harm that can come from remaining silent. I hope to make my family proud by speaking out and raising awareness in my community and beyond.

I am part of NAMI for so many reasons. The numbers on people affected by mental illness are staggering and the need for education and support are greater than ever. My heart has always been with marginalized groups such as minorities, at-risk youth, the poor, the homeless, the LGBT community, the disabled, etc. Sadly, many of these groups intersect but, thankfully, an organization like NAMI is there to help. I want to be a part of spreading the help out to those who so desperately need it. I want to be a part of removing the stigma from mental illness.

I fully support NAMI because it helps people coping with serious mental illness break into public life in the community. It is a way to advocate for and include people who are differently-abled and sheds a much-needed spotlight on a vulnerable portion of our community.

My family and I have been surviving with mental illness for many years, and it has been hard to figure out what resources are available. NAMI is that connection for families to find the support systems in our community. I chose to volunteer for NAMI to help provide mental health trainings for education and awareness for our local communities. NAMI is a blessing for our area!

NAMI gave me hope, confidence, and the power to realize my future, at a time when I had given up. Now I wish to share my Mental Health challenges, and help others who struggle with similar problems.
