STARBASE Goodfellow

A nonprofit organization

To expose our nation's youth to the technological environments and positive civilian and military role models found on Active, Guard, and Reserve military bases and installations, nurture a winning network of collaborators, and build mutual loyalty within our communities, by providing 25 hours of exemplary hands-on instruction and activities that meet or exceed the National Standards.

STARBASE Goodfellow is a Department of Defense Youth program that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). The program is designed to spark the students' interest in STEAM activities and expose them to STEAM careers through volunteers from Goodfellow Air Force Base and other Subject Matter Experts from the surrounding community. There is no cost to the student and the schools only need to provide transportation and lunches. On average, we provide STEAM education to over 1,500 students from public, private and rural schools throughout San Angelo and the Concho Valley per academic year. We also provide a variety of hands-on STEAM projects during our summer academies.

Testimonials

"It's intense, hands-on curriculum, but the benefits are amazing," said Kay Scott, principal at Santa Rita Elementary.

"Each visit to STARBASE has positively impacted myself and my students in many ways. The amount of knowledge that the STARBASE staff pours into our students is astounding! Even though I've attended seven years, I am always amazed at the staff's expertise. While at STARBASE, students are truly engaged and experience highly rigorous activities. Students leave STARBASE with a mass amount of knowledge in the STEM field. They talk about their visit to STARBASE for years." said Kristina Martinez, 5th grade teacher at Bonham Elementary.
