About the Organization
The San Angelo Clubhouse is a program under the umbrella of MHMR of the Concho Valley, w/separate funding. It is one of more than 350 Clubhouses worldwide. People who live with a mental health diagnosis come to the Clubhouse to work on recovery from mental illness, such as major depressive disorder, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. They are not "patients," "clients," or "individuals;" they are "Members" of the Clubhouse. Members and Staff work together to run the Clubhouse, teaching members job skills and social skills, encouraging community interaction along the way. Come see us at our beautiful location along the Concho River, 404 S. Irving. We'd love to give you a tour so you can see all the wonderful things our members do every day!
According to data from semi-annual surveys, members who attend the Clubhouse on a regular basis see a 78% decrease in psychiatric hospital stays and an 80% decrease in law enforcement encounters. 85% say their lives are significantly better since coming to the Clubhouse.
Members choose to work in one of four areas of the Clubhouse: Culinary, Communication, Clubhouse Cafe, or Cultivation (therapeutic gardening).
