Emmanuel Episcopal Church & School of Fine Arts

The Emmanuel School of Fine Arts, a ministry of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, works to support all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, seeking high-quality, classical instruction, and an appreciation of music and visual arts education from process to product.

We have over 570 students enjoying either weekly private music lessons, participation in a group ensemble, or one of our 50 ongoing semester-long classes. All students who are either military dependents or qualify for free or reduced lunches through SAISD are encouraged to fill out a tuition scholarship form. We provide over $30,000 in scholarships annually as well as provide instruments from our loan library for students who do not own their instrument free of charge. In November, December, April and May, our students perform free music concerts for nursing home residents, senior living facilities, and other locations around San Angelo. Our current fine arts programming includes over 50 group classes and performance ensembles for band, orchestra, jazz band, youth choir, and guitar. Every teacher working at ESOFA has a professional background and participates in multiple facets of fine art outreach within our community. Not only does the staff have a resume of impressive world-wide performance, many continue their passion for music and art education well beyond our walls, teaching at Angelo State University and within SAISD.

I feel like ESOFA is one of San Angelo's best kept secrets - a true gem! I am so thankful for their virtual band during my kids' 2020 school year! My son learned a year's worth of trumpet in 4 months, and my daughter learned her way around so many percussion instruments! When they went back to public school, they were ahead of their peers and able to jump right in reading new music. This would not have happened without ESOFA and virtual band.
