Disability Connections

About the Organization

Disability Connections is a Center for Independent Living( CIL) providing services that are designed, directed, and in most cases, delivered by people with disabilities themselves. The Center provides advocacy, peer support, information and referral, independent living skills training, and transition services to over 250 individuals with disabilities living in the Concho Valley annually. Transition services are provided to youth transitioning to adulthood and individuals living in an institutional setting that wish to transition into community living. Since Disability Connections opened in 2009, over 100 individuals have moved from nursing facilities back into our community with the Center's support. The Center also offers independent living services to purchase items such as assistive technology, ramps, hearing aids, or other devices and services to assist individuals with disabilities to live more independent lives. Last year, the Center spent over $16,000 on hearing aids alone for Consumers in the San Angelo area. The Center is an active voice for individuals with disabilities in our community.
