Growing Garden Cities is a nonprofit in San Angelo dedicated to bringing people together through community gardening. Rooted in the call to love our neighbors, we grow fresh food and provide hands-on gardening education for all ages across the Concho Valley. Our shared gardens help reduce barriers to nutritious food while teaching families how to grow their own healthy produce close to home. These spaces also serve as outdoor classrooms where children and neighbors learn, connect, and experience the joy of growing food together.
Our gardens are more than rows of vegetables. They are gathering places where neighbors meet, children get their hands in the soil, and families experience the satisfaction of growing something themselves. Through volunteer support, local partnerships, and hands-on learning opportunities, we provide the tools, guidance, and resources people need to start gardening and succeed.
One of the most rewarding parts of our work is helping younger generations discover where their food comes from. Many kids today have never seen vegetables growing in the ground. Our gardens and classroom garden towers become living learning spaces where they explore planting, caring for crops, and the value of healthy food.
Thanks to the support of volunteers, donors, and community partners, Growing Garden Cities continues to expand opportunities for gardening throughout San Angelo. Every new garden space helps strengthen our community while giving more families access to fresh food, practical skills, and the simple joy of growing something together.
Rooted in the call to love our neighbors, we grow fresh food and provide hands-on gardening education for all ages. Nourishing body and mind, promoting wellness, and reducing barriers to nutritious food.
Growing Garden Cities is working to make fresh, healthy food more accessible right here in San Angelo and across the Concho Valley. At our community garden (308 E 5th Street), we grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are shared with families, used in educational programs, and invested back into building a stronger, healthier community.
As we enter our peak growing season, the needs in the garden are immediate and ongoing. Your donation helps us provide:
• Seeds and starter plants for seasonal crops
• Irrigation supplies to keep our garden thriving in Texas heat.
• Soil, compost, and amendments to improve harvest yields
• Tools and equipment for volunteers and community workdays
• Hands-on education for children and families learning to grow their own food
• Garden tower supplies and classroom materials to support school-based growing systems
Every dollar given directly turns into something tangible—more food in the ground, more produce harvested, and more families served.
With your support during San Angelo Gives, we can:
• Expand our growing space
• Increase the amount of fresh produce we give back
• Create more opportunities for our community to learn, serve, and connect
This is more than a garden—it’s a place where people come together, where children learn where food comes from, and where access to fresh, local produce becomes a reality for more families.
When you give, you are planting seeds that grow far beyond the garden. Thank you for being part of what we’re growing in San Angelo.
