The year 2024 marks the tenth anniversary of Children's Bed Project. After piloting the need for children's beds in a local elementary school, it became apparent that many children were sleeping on couches, floors, or crowded beds with multiple siblings. The Children's Bed Project was launched to provide beds for elementary school children in San Angelo. A collaboration was built between Sierra Vista United Methodist Church to provide beds and bedding; San Angelo Independent School District personnel to help identify the children who needed beds; and Rust Street Ministries to warehouse and distribute beds through a voucher system that was developed. Since that time, some expansion to area public schools has also taken place. Over the ten year period we have provided over 1,800 beds with complete bedding to area children. .
