About the Organization
We have done a lot of upkeep on the library in the past 5 years, with grants totaling $194,000 which allowed the mortar to be repaired, the building painted inside and out and the bathrooms made ADA accessible. We have also gotten new furniture, stage curtains, new chairs for the auditorium, LED lighting throughout the building, a new audio/video system for the auditorium, and the roof had to be redone this past year. But we still need so much more, the floors need to be redone, and the yard needs a landscape plan and landscaping. The Library is supported locally by donations from the city and county, but the main way is by fundraisers by the Board of Directors and the rental of the rooms. As you might guess, when you have a historical building the costs for phone, internet, salaries, insurance and upkeep are just some of our expenses. Any help that you might give would be greatly appreciated. Our building insurance is increasing this year due to two hail storms and a tornado in the last 6 years.
