Splash pads are a remarkable gift to our community, offered selflessly and without any obligations. For several decades, San Angelo citizens have consistently expressed their top two desires for outdoor amenities: splash pads and shade at parks/playgrounds. Recognizing that the city had no immediate plans to fulfill this wish, a local small business took it upon themselves to spearhead the project by raising the necessary funds. The San Angelo Area Foundation (SAAF), a local non-profit organization, has played a pivotal role in managing the donated funds for the All-Tex Splash Pad Fund, a charitable cause. Thanks to their fiduciary sponsorship, effective fund management has been achieved, ensuring the optimal utilization of resources. The highly coveted splash pads not only fulfill the wishes of numerous San Angelo residents but also ensure free and fair accessibility to the general public. Furthermore, they not only encourage physical activity and eco-friendly play but also enhance the economic vitality of our community. It is important to note that the installation of these splash pads will not result in any tax increases, and once fully completed, the City of San Angelo will assume responsibility for their maintenance. While $400,000 was already raised in 2023, and Unidad Park is set to be finished by summer 2024, an additional $500,000 is still required to finalize the splash pad at Kirby Park. Once this crucial phase is completed, the project will be fully accomplished and the All-Tex Splash Pad Fund will no longer be an active fund through SAAF.
