All About Horses Rescue and Sanctuary is a recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization that focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for equine in need. We allow our horses as much time as they need to decompress from prior trauma as we evaluate what the best plan of action for each individual equine is. Our primary specialty at the rescue is refeeding severely underweight horses and bringing them back to health slow and steady. Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt, but many of our horses that come to the rescue end up being permanent sanctuary residents due to advanced age, disposition, or expensive medical needs.

Star came to our rescue in 2019 extremely underweight and severely neglected. No one was willing to take a chance on him because he was a stallion (not fixed) at the time, but we did not let that deter us from stepping in to help. Star was unable to be housed with other male horses due to his aggression toward other male horses since he was not gelded until he arrived at the rescue as an older stallion. He was docile towards the females, though. Horses like Star are why we provide sanctuary for our equine.  Star was our first neglect case, and what really kick started our equine rescue. We were able to rehabilitate, castrate (fix), and provide Star with a wonderful remainder of his life, up until he passed away peacefully in 2025.

AAHRS strives to help horses in need of a safe landing, whether it be owner surrenders, neglect case seizures, or medical emergencies. We work closely with law enforcement, as well as our local animal control in neglect cases.  We carefully evaluate the potential adopter, and our goal is to rehab and adopt horses out to their forever homes, and we follow up indefinitely on the horses that come through the rescue. We typically keep our medically fragile, older, and unrideable horses due to them being harder to place. We adopt out our younger, more capable and healthy horses. Thus, we're considered both a rescue and a sanctuary.  When we adopt our horses, we adopt under contract and continue to follow all of our horses' progress through the years. Horses that are adopted under our contract always have a safety net and can be returned to the rescue at any time. We currently house 43 horses at our rescue, consisting of several hundred acres.

Testimonials

"I am a faithful supporter and monthly sponsor. There is no other place I would rather donate to. Ashley does an amazing work and is always upfront about her needs, wants, success, and not so glamourous moments in rescue and sanctuary work." Anne H.

"I am a donor, happy to be part of her dream. She (Ashley) is open about her needs for the rescue and where the money goes. Take a look at those before and after photos!" Cynthia B.

"This rescue is amazing! I recused Jester (the OTTB) 4 years "ago". He has been part of this rescue most of that time. His weight was a struggle but Ashley never gave up until she found the perfect mix. He's living his best life! At his age of almost 26 I couldn't be selfish and have him hauled to GA plus he has a girlfriend (at the rescue). He's got the best home! If something happens to me, I've already spoken to Ashley about taking my horses here at my home. That speaks volumes as they are my everything! My babies! I know they'd be well taken care of for the rest of their lives." Danielle R.

"This is a great rescue. Ashley Stahl works her tail off to provide the best care and rehab for these horses. Please consider supporting her!" Elisa P.

"From high school to adulting and living life to its fullest, Ashley has grown into the most beautiful nurturing and caring woman. We've donated from assisting with transport to helping with bales of hay, and our money has definitely been well spent. Thank you for all your rescue work and for giving your horses a second chance at life." Charlotte A.

"We adopted two mini boys (from the rescue). We live a little over 3 hours away. Ashley arranged delivery at a very reasonable cost. She answered all my questions about care and needed structures for them before they came. She also answered any and all questions we had after they were delivered. She cares for all the animals even after they are off to their forever home. She comments and likes seeing pictures or videos to see how they are thriving. I couldn't have gotten better support from anyone else i've adopted animals from." Bonnie S.

"I had two rescues that both needed friends which I could not provide, but Ashley could. They are at her rescue as part of the sanctuary horses and doing wonderful. I help sponsor them and I get regular updates which I love. She has taken in a senior blind horse I was asked to help but had no knowledge of dealing with a blind horse. She gave him love until the end. If you're looking to donate to a rescue, your money will be going to the animals, not in someone's pocket." Joyce C.

All About Horses Rescue and Sanctuary is a nonprofit that focusses on caring for equine in need. We strive to allow our horses as much time as they need to decompress from prior trauma.
