WHO WE ARE

Mommy & Me Advocacy of San Angelo (MAMAS) was established in 2025 as a volunteer-led organization dedicated to strengthening families and improving community spaces for children. MAMAS began as a local playgroup created to provide mothers with a supportive space to connect and build relationships. As participation grew, it became clear that many families faced common challenges related to the safety, accessibility, and usability of public parks and gathering spaces—particularly in a climate where extreme heat can limit outdoor play for young children. In response, MAMAS evolved into a community advocacy organization focused on amplifying the voices of mothers and families and working collaboratively to create more family-friendly environments across San Angelo.

WHAT WE'VE DONE

Current programs include parent-and-child playgroups, family-centered events, and community engagement activities that encourage healthy play, social connection, and early childhood development. These programs are intentionally designed to take place in public spaces such as parks, highlighting both the value of these spaces and the barriers families face when they are not adequately equipped for safety and comfort. While we are a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are proud of what we have accomplished so far with the community and fundraising events as well as the mother and family connection we have built. In 2025, we began advocating for park improvement with the city of San Angelo parks and rec department and getting the project approved by the parks and rec board while also managing our local Mommy & Me Playgroup of San Angelo to coordinate weekly playdates for mothers and children; regular fundraising efforts such as profit shares and donation-based based events.

HOW YOUR DONATION WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

For 2026, we are concerting our efforts to fundraising and completing our shade structures project for 3 local parks; Webster Tot Lot, Brown Park, & Jamie Padron Park, to allow safer more comfortable outdoor play for all families in the Concho Valley. Additionally, we have plans for continued weekly community playdates and monthly community mothers' night out gatherings.
