Mereta Volunteer Fire Department is established to better protect and serve not only our service area, but all over the state of Texas if need be. We continuously attend trainings and actively work towards bettering our department for the community and surrounding areas. With more trainings and equipment our emergency response in a crisis can better serve our community and surrounding areas. Our station also doubles as a community center for anyone to use and emergency shelter in time of crisis.

Our organization is made entirely of community members who all volunteer our time and resources to keep this station going. We are looking to upgrade our equipment and fire trucks as the need for different types of emergencies arise. We currently only have 2 brush trucks and just added a Rescue truck to better serve emergencies involving house fires and vehicle accidents. But to house these new apparatus trucks we are needing to build a new fire station/community center to house this equipment. Our current fire station is also an emergency shelter in case of an event where people need a place with electricity, food, and water in a natural disaster. We have all our electricity tied into a large emergency generator. We also frequently rent out our building, at cost, to anyone looking for a place to host an event or a nice place to gather with a large group of friends and family. The commuinty park is shared with this property for kids to play in. We are looking to add a new fire station with upgraded trucks in the near future. This new building will give us the ability to have more training, more purpose built fire trucks, and storage for equipment.
