Fort Chadbourne Foundation was created on Feb. 1999 to protect and preserve this historic site and its heritage, social and cultural significance. It is the intent of the founders to preserve, restore, and present the history of Fort Chadbourne and the people who lived and worked there. The foundation shall also promote and preserve the historical assets of the site as educational resources. The foundation shall provide for education through grants and endowment from a permanent fund.

Visit Fort Chadbourne where history comes alive! Step back in time with an educational and fun tour where history was made! You can see and sit on antique saddles as you watch an Emmy Award winning video of Fort Chadbourne - "The Lost Fort". See over 450 antique firearms, step inside a stagecoach, walk thru a teepee and see many of the over 500,000 artifacts recovered on site at Fort Chadbourne. The Medal of Honor exhibit features the 8 recipients that served at Fort Chadbourne, along all the Medal of Honor's on display. After visiting the museum you can take a tour of the actual historic Fort grounds and envision what life was like on the Texas Frontier. The preservation of Fort Chadbourne has been been done without governmental funds. No state or federal funds were used. The second Thursday of May is our Medal of Honor, "Evening with a Hero" dinner with a Medal of Honor recipient as guest speaker.  September is our Fundraiser Month.  We do a mailout to our donors and send a newsletter to let them know what Fort Chadbourne is about and any new exhibits.

Giving Activity

Mission

Fort Chadbourne Foundation was established to protect, preserve and present the Historic Site of Fort Chadbourne to the public in 1999.

The Fort Chadbourne Foundation had completed its original mission statement without governmental funds all thru hard work, volunteers and donations. The Fort Chadbourne Foundation has done it. Our new mission statement is to continue with the following:

A) Continue to protect, preserve and present the historic site to the public

B) Provide educational information about the people and their history who were here

C) Continue to grow the endowment to maintain what has been built

D) Work with volunteers to aid us in the future

E) Continue to build on our Fundraising Programs

We have a small team and we all strive to work hard to make Fort Chadbourne a success!

Needs

Fort Chadbourne Foundation is in need of $14,000 for new LED lighting. The Fort Chadbourne Museum was built in 2012 and it needs new LED Lighting. Our museum is 14 years old this year and our existing lighting is getting dim on a lot of our exhibits. Good LED lighting is expensive and we have 160 total lights in our original museum excluding the new addition that will be 2 years old in September.
