Small Congregation with a Big Heart

Congregation Beth Israel is a small but deeply rooted Jewish congregation in San Angelo, Texas, serving as a spiritual home, a place of learning, and a center for connection for both Jewish families and the broader community.

We are 100% volunteer-led. There is no large institutional funding, no paid staff, and no outside infrastructure supporting our day-to-day operations. Every service, every holiday celebration, every educational program, and every community gathering exists because of the dedication of our members and the generosity of those who believe in the importance of sustaining Jewish life in West Texas.

In a region where Jewish families are few and widely dispersed, Congregation Beth Israel provides something essential: belonging. We gather for Shabbat services, celebrate holidays like Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover, and Hanukkah, and open our doors to interfaith and community events that foster understanding, respect, and connection across traditions.

Our synagogue is more than a building; it is a place where children learn Jewish identity, where families mark life’s milestones, and where individuals of all backgrounds come together to ask big questions about meaning, faith, and community.

We are also committed to being a bridge in San Angelo. Through interfaith partnerships, community remembrance events, educational programming, and public gatherings, we work to build understanding and unity in a time when both are deeply needed.

Like many small congregations, we rely on community support to continue this work.
