Welcome to Sully’s Scream Team!
You may be asking yourself, why on earth did we pick that to be our team name for the Autism walk?
The answer is quite simple!
We Scare, because We Care about Autism: Awareness, Inclusion, Understanding, Empowerment, Respect, Rights, and so much more.
Autism is not a disability, but a different ability! We want to empower Sullivan to rise to his full potential, and what better way to show him that, than to show up, represent, be his voice, and advocate!
We choose to help raise money for Autism Alliance of the Concho Valley, because they are local, we believe in their projects, and what they stand for in the community.
They offer sensory sensitive experiences, like getting to see Santa without all of the extra commotion. It was honestly a magical experience, and the team was EXTREMELY patient with Sully, as he explored his new surroundings. They took the time to capture the moment, unlike the previous year.
AACV provides grants to local families so they can apply for help to assist with some of the large expenses which come along with the individualized needs for kiddos on the spectrum. This is a huge help, and relief to so many. Sensory gear, technology, safe beds, and more have been furnished thanks to donations by generous folks like you. AACV even has grants available for local classroom teachers to help them better meet the needs of their students on the spectrum.
Most families are struggling more and more every day. Many don’t realize that caring for someone with special needs can be a financial struggle, especially when insurance denials are quite typical. There are so many extra expenses: sensory safe foods, new foods to encourage expansion of those safe foods, therapy, specialists, gas, and missed hours at work to shuttle the individual around. Many families have someone staying home as the sole caretaker, simply because the therapy regimen, health, and behavior are too time consuming to try and hold down a full-time job.
We ask you to please consider donating to this amazing cause.
We ask you to stand up for those who dance to the beat of their own drum and be their voice if needed.
We ask that you teach your children about inclusion, and that it’s okay to have friends who are a little different. After all, we are ALL a little different from one another!
We don’t want to change Sullivan. We want to empower him to embrace his unique, and we cannot wait to watch him grow and see all that he accomplishes in this crazy big world.
Thanks for helping us meet our goal!

Our team will further be walking in memory of Dr. Kevin Scott-Finch Pugh. Dr. Pugh was an integral part of Miranda’s higher education and a passionate champion for those with Autism. His legacy lives on with every new innovation or achievement in helping those in need within the public education system.
