Special Olympics Texas - Big Country/Concho Valley Area

A nonprofit organization

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

We serve individuals of all ages who have intellectual disabilities. We have programming that starts as young as age 2, with our Young Athletes Program, and there is no upper age limit to participate with Special Olympics Texas. In the Big Country/Concho Valley Area, we host an average of one competition per month. Our desire is to build a more unified and inclusive community. A few ways we advance that vision are through our Unified competitions and our Unified Champions Schools.

We currently serve nearly 800 athletes in the Big Country/Concho Valley Area, as well as over 300 Unified Partners! Our sports offered include: Powerlifting, Basketball, Soccer, Track & Field, Swimming, Badminton, Golf, Softball, Bocce, Flag Football, Bowling, and Volleyball.
